Game shows... what would this world do without them? They add excitement to our TV landscape, allowing us to watch ordinary people like ourselves win money and prizes, from Air Force Colonel Daryl Scott's winning one-day total of $1 on Jeopardy!, to John Carpenter's big $1,000,000 win on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.
Game shows have come in many sizes, shapes, and colors. Some shows are a one-on-one battle of knowledge, some require contestants to perform stunts in front of an audience, and much more. Some shows include celebrity guests, others not. But whatever makes them run, game shows are definitely a distinctive part of our TV landscape, in a class all by themselves, separate from talk shows, newsmagazines, sitcoms, and other kinds of television programming.
On this site, the focus is on the game show landscape. Some shows are still running, some others are now history. Featured shows can be found to the left.
